Create Instagram Account (Step-by-Step)

Creating an Instagram account is super simple.

First, if you don't already have the Instagram app on your phone, go ahead and install it. It's really quick.

  • If you're using an Android phone, open the Play Store
  • If you're on an iPhone, open the App Store

Now tap on the search icon and type Instagram. When it shows up, tap install on Android or get on iPhone. The app will start downloading right away. Once it's installed, simply tap open.

Sign Up Process

Tap on Create New Account.

Instagram will ask for your mobile number. Enter your number carefully and tap Next.

Don’t worry — your number won’t be shown publicly on your profile.

Enter a valid email address that you can access, then tap Next.

Verification & Password

You’ll receive a six-digit verification code:

  • Email → Check your inbox
  • Phone → OTP

Enter the code manually if needed.

You can enable Remember login info if you're using a personal device.

Tap Next.

Enter Personal Details

Now enter your date of birth:

  • Select day, month, and year
  • Tap Set
  • Tap Next

Now enter your name (full name or first name).

Choose Username

Instagram will suggest a username:

  • Green check = Available
  • Error = Already taken

You can change it or pick a suggestion. Then tap Next.

Agree & Profile Setup

Tap I Agree to accept Instagram’s terms.

You can now add a profile picture:

  • Tap Add Picture
